CLUB UPDATE: JANUARY 2019

So far the 2019 club volleyball season has been a fantastic success! We have had 10 practices where we have have worked to improve our skills and start to play together as a team, as well as learn what it means to play with Southwestern Volleyball Club!

What does it mean to be a member of Southwestern Volleyball Club?

Southwestern Volleyball Club prides itself on developing individual volleyball skills and abilities as well developing a sense of pride in the skills and abilities of each athlete. At SWVC we believe each volleyball player is there because they are elite, they are leaders, and they want to be the best volleyball players that they can be. We believe that each athlete is a part of this program because they are passionate about volleyball. Each practice we work to improve skills, teach concepts, work hard, and more than anything else HAVE FUN playing the sport that we all love.

Our practices have been going extremely well. We can see a huge amount of growth in all athletes. We have been using our Attack 2 serving/attack machine to improve our serve receive and we are able to get about 700 touches per hour!

Equipment and jerseys have been handed out and if you have any issues with size or fit, please let us know and we will try our best to accommodate.

CLUB PAYMENTS
The remainder of your balance is due before the end of the month. If you need a reminder as to how much you owe, please email Coach Brown and he will get your remaining balance to you.

TOURNAMENTS
Tournaments are starting next week. As a gentle reminder to all parents and players, playing time is not guaranteed, it is earned. Coaches will do their best to give players an opportunity to get on the court and show what they can do. Iif you don't play as much as you would have liked or expected, the player should discuss this with the coaching staff at the next practice. At SWVC we abide by the “24 hour rule” where playing time will not be discussed by coaches, players or parents until the next day. Also as a reminder to players and parents, SWVC is held in high regard as a respectful, hardworking club and it is our mission to keep it that way. That means we should not hear any negative comments about refs or opposing teams at any time during tournament competition.

Tournament schedules will be posted the week before the tournament when they are received from tournament directors. Players are asked to have their bag, ball, jersey, and warm up shirt with them at all tournaments. Coaches will have libero jerseys for those that that need them. We are looking forward to watching our teams work hard, have fun, and compete to the best of their abilities. The goal of our teams and athletes should be to play with pride… pride in yourself, pride in our team and club, and with that pride we will leave feeling good about the way we played. We would like to win, but club volleyball is primarily about learning and improving yourself as it pertains to volleyball and we must not lose sight of that.

We are looking forward to a great season!
